2012 Benedictine High School soccer schedule

Benedictine's new Bossu Field

Our Bengals began conditioning workouts last week on Bossu Field, Benedictine's new $2.5 million on-campus sports field, the first in the 86-year history of the high school.

Named after Benedictine's legendary Augie Bossu, who coached football and baseball at the school for a nearly a quarter century, the field will be dedicated Saturday, Aug. 4, at 9 a.m.

It will be the home of the Benedictine High School soccer team.

The artificial turf is ready, Benedictine's signature Flying "B" is positioned at the 50-yard line and the words "Bossu Field" have been prominently featured in large letters between the 20 and 30 yard lines. A blue two-lane track surrounds the full-sized field.

The next phase of construction will bring the Rufus Pavilion, to be located just south of Trueman Field House overlooking Bossu Field, and the Bishop Roger Gries Walk of Champions, which will connect the northern end of Bossu Field with the grotto and the Rufus Pavilion. Plans also call for an 18’ scoreboard, bleacher seating, lighting, concession and fencing.

Benedictine is continuing to raise money to pay for the second phase of the construction and for student academic scholarships that are part of the $2.5 million campaign. You can make a financial contribution at www.pledgebossufield.com.
